ALA students participate in formal summative testing during the school year. Students are also assessed throughout the year via teacher-made or curriculum-driven assessments. Assessment results are used by teachers/staff to make educational decisions for instruction in the best interests of our students. All formal testing is done in-person in the ALA computer labs.

Assessment information is outlined within the Salt River Schools Student Parent Handbook and the Arizona Department of Education Parents Rights Handbook, which can be found on the Salt River Schools website.

Although attendance is important for all instructional days, it is especially important to be present and on-time during weeks of testing. This ensures testing can occur without additional disruption to student schedules. If your student must arrive late or leave early from school, call 480-362-2130 as soon as possible. If they must leave during a testing session, they won’t be allowed to complete that component of the assessment later.

Summative Testing: The ADE created and mandated a system of standards, assessments, and accountability. We will administer the following ADE assessments this spring:

  • AzSCI March 24-April 4
    11th grade only
  • ACT State April 8-11 & April 14-18
    11th grade only
  • ACT District April 22-25 & April 28-May 2
    10th grade only

Testing windows (dates) are decided by the ADE, and each test has specific guidelines for administration and timing. All formal assessment results are shared with students, teacher/staff, parents, the Salt River Schools Education Board, and other stakeholders as mandated by the ADE. For summative testing, students/families receive individual reports created by the testing vendors.

If you have any questions, call the ALA at 480-362-2130.
