 WAC101 Writing Across Curriculum (Sec. # 35521)

Tues & Thurs 12:15-1:30 p.m.
1/14/20-5/8/20
Emphasis on the elements of sentence and paragraph structure, as well as the four stages of the process for personal and expository writing. Extensive journal entries, editing, and revision of written assignments. Prepare and write multi-paragraph essays. Assigned readings, participation in extensive workshops, and group work. Prerequisite: None.

ENG101 First-Year Composition (Sec. # 15405)
Tues & Thurs 2:15-3:30 p.m.
1/14/20-5/8/20

Emphasis on rhetoric, composition, and the writing process. Establish college-level writing strategies. Prerequisite: WritePlacer® Score of 5 or higher or passing grade in WAC101 is required.

CRW170 - Intro to Writing Fiction (Sec. # 37478)
Wed 4:30-7 p.m.
1/13/20-5/8/20

Practice in writing fiction through a process of prewriting (invention and discovery), writing, analysis and evaluation (in workshop), and revision. Practice in manipulating various elements and forms of fiction. Prerequisites: None. CRW150 recommended, but not required.


WRITING PLACEMENT
Students interested in attending ENG091 or ENG101 are able to take the WritePlacer® college writing placement at SCC. WritePlacer prep is available and recommended. 

WHY YOU NEED TO ENROLL

  • Earn credit from Scottsdale Community College. All credit is transferable to any Maricopa Community College. WAC101, ENG101 & CRW courses are transferable to Arizona State University, the University of Arizona, and Northern Arizona University.
  • Each class earns 3 SCC college credit hours upon successful completion.
  • Classes will be held at the Salt River Schools ABE/GED Classroom #1 at 1880 N. Longmore Road (north side of the Salt River Community Building). 
  • Great opportunity to become acclimated to college coursework and earn college credit!
