The Accelerated Learning Academy invites high school students ages 16 or older to apply to our 2022 summer school program, which runs Monday through Thursday from May 31 through June 24. Summer School Structure and Earning Credit

  • Summer school takes place in person; however, students will take online Edgenuity courses taught by ALA teachers.
    • Former and currently enrolled ALA students will be accepted for summer school
    • Students who attend school in Mesa and verified by SCR staff will be accepted for summer school. NO EXCEPTIONS
  • Summer school runs Monday through Thursday, May 31 through June 24. Due to tribal holidays, there will be no school on
    • Tuesday, June 14 (SRPMIC Day). The school week will be Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday
    • Monday, June 20 (Juneteenth). The school week will be Tuesday through Friday.

  • Students must register for one session: 8 a.m. to noon or 12:30-4:30 p.m.
    • Students have the option of enrolling in both sessions, with two separate classes for each session.
  • Each student will be provided a school-issued laptop.
  • Students must submit notes in order to access quizzes and receive credit for the completed course.
    • Each student will be provide guided notes for Edgenuity, if available
    • Teachers will go over means of submitting notes
  • Course Assignment
    • ALA students may be registered in one of the classes they did not complete during the spring quarter. ALA staff will determine the class. If the assigned class is completed and time allows, another class may be assigned at the decision of staff and student.
    • Mesa students will be assigned a class approved by Mesa Public Schools as credit recovery.

Attendance

  • All students are required to attend the class for which they are scheduled.
  • After an accumulated 8 hours of unexcused absences, students will be dropped for lack of attendance. Attendance is taken daily for each session.
  • Students may also work outside of their scheduled class time. However, this does not make up for absences and teacher assistance may not be readily available.

Technology
School-issued laptops must be returned prior to posting of final grade and release of transcript.

Meals

  • Breakfast and lunch meals will be provided for all students.
  • If a student enrolls in both AM & PM sessions, they will not be allowed to leave campus for lunch.

Transportation
Transportation is not available. Students will need to arrange transportation to and from school.
